Offered in 4 localized services in India/Pakistan, the Middle East, Taiwan, and South East Asia/Mainland China, the channel reaches around 40 million people.
STAR India, has the highest reach among the Indian broadcasters, beaming to over 168 million people every week across India and over 65 countries across the globe. | Business Requirements |
With the changing digital space, the channel was looking at revamping their existing website to bring viewers closer to the world of stars and movies.
Designing and developing a brand new website for STAR Movies meant incorporating the essential features of the changing digital landscape. It had to be contemporary in look, feel and style and include all the ingredients of the latest web trends. However, it had to be also ensured that the guidelines of the brand and channel packaging are maintained.
Some of the other solutions that the channel was looking for were - integrating a video player and enabling viewers to set reminders/alerts of their favourite movies. |

| Enhancing Star Movies´ Online Presence |
"Going Digital" is the new buzz word in E-Town. This means that your business on the web is all about you, yet being trendy, smart and very Web 2.0.
To let their viewers dive deep into the world of movies and the STARs, Icreon had to create a movie experience which was rich in user interaction, trendy, clutter free and very Web 2.0.
Using Microsoft .NET technology with SQL server 2005, in the website, we have created two interfaces – admin and the user logins. Users/viewers can not only view details on all movies running for the month including their tune-in info but also synopsis on it. SQL Server 2005 has been used for database management of their website. A majority of the front-end system uses SSI pages with extensive use of JavaScript, and interactive features are developed using a combination of JavaScript and ActionScript (Flash). The applications developed provide visually stunning user experience, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes. |

Highlight of the Month promotes the prime time movies for the month. |

STAR Struck section telecasts a movie every Friday based on the actor of the month. |

Now Showing gives details of movies running currently on the channel. |

An important feature that has been integrated in the solution is to enable viewers to set reminders for their favourite movies. This will enables users to receive notifications of the movies on their email. In addition, we have also implemented the SMS gateway to enable viewers to receive SMS reminders on their mobiles.
As required by the client, we developed and integrated a customized video gallery – a USP of the website. Through this feature the viewers can easily watch trailers/videos of the movies, as well as post their ratings and comments. However for posting the comments and ratings a viewer will have to become a member of the website. |

A search feature has been integrated to find information on a particular movie. This however is only limited to the database of a specific month. |
